Amby Baby Motion Beds Recall Propmted by Infant Deaths

Comments Off

Following the deaths of two infants, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Amby Baby USA of Minneapolis have announced a voluntary recall of Amby Baby Motion Beds. Consumers in possession of these products should immediately stop using the product and contact Amby Baby for free repair kit.

The Amby Baby Motion Bed consists of a steel frame and a fabric hammock which are connected by a large spring and metal crossbar. There is only one model of the hammock available which can be identified by a label sewn onto the hammock stating: “Amby – Babies Love It, Naturally.”

The problem with the bed is that the side to side motion or tilting of the hammock can allow the infant to roll and become trapped against the hammock’s wall or the mattress pad posing a suffocation hazard.

The CPSC is and Amby Baby are aware two infant deaths resulting from suffocation in the Amby Baby hammock.

Amby Baby Hammocks have been sold at Ambybaby.com and other various online retailers since 2003 for about $250.

For more information please contact the Amby Baby USA directly at (866) 544-9721 during normal business hours or visit the website at www.ambybaby.com. More information and pictures of the recalled product can also be found on the CPSC website here.
